The 2020-2021 Manatee County YLD Board
Manatee County Young Lawyers Division
As a new lawyer, the YLD is a valuable resource, offering an opportunity to build relationships, gain experience through Pro Bono service, and grow professionally. The mission of the YLD is to integrate new lawyers into the legal profession by encouraging active involvement in Bar Association activities, public service projects, social and educational programs, and by providing young lawyers with a voice in the local and state Bar Associations.
Prior to Covid, the YLD organized and held several events a year for young lawyers. Those events include Java with the Judges (young lawyers and Judges and their staff enjoy breakfast in an informal and relaxed setting), and baseball outings and beach parties, offering a casual networking opportunity with other local attorneys. Since Covid, the YLD has met virtually and even hosted a training session for the entire Bar Association on the use of Zoom and other technology.
One of the YLD pro bono projects was Wills for Heroes. A program that partnered young lawyers with experienced Estate and Probate attorneys to draft Last Will and Testaments for our Veterans, Law Enforcement, and other first responders. The YLD helps out in the community by collecting food donations for the local food bank, and food and other items for the local animal shelters.
We look forward to welcoming you in our vibrant YLD community!
